When I was first conceptualizing the idea of Gladius Dei, I was considering that at some point you would play a younger version of Confessor.

I also considered that some of the team members where the decendants' of previous members. Angel's Grandmother was a Soviet Sniper during the end of the WWII, Rosario is Confessor's granddaughter.

Then it hit me, this could be during the 1950's. The Diesel Punk era!!! After seeing a few of the conceptual images of Sucker Punch and some of the Captain America Trailers, and then going on an all out binge of Dieselpunk themes, with Sky Captain, the Shadow, and every other pulp novel I could Google up, I wanted to make an image along those lines.

So…taking that into consideration, what would you think a good 6 person team should be in those dark days of WWII fantasy?

A younger Confessor is a must, as well as a Russian female sniper.
Who else?
French resistance?
Tuskegee airman?
Some Greaser mechanic?

We have been in every conflict since WW1. Even more, puertoricans were already over in Europe fighting during the Spanish Civil War.

One thing that you have to keep in mind. Generification. You make a character so specific, people can't relate to him. One thing is to give them characteristics, but making them to specific can actually be harmful. Making a character Latino is not the same as making him Puerto Rican. You can make him as specific as you want, just don't say it.
